We all don’t like longer URLs, but some times short URLs may not be possible to see. For shortening long URLs we have many services, even though Google introduced its own Google Web URL shortening Services. As microblogging with short URL services improving in sites like Twitter it is not a big wondering about Google’s shortening services.
‘goo.gl’ for shortening all types of URLs
In the year 2009 google launched goo.gl. This web service is using to shortening all types of web URLs. Initially google made service was available only with Google Tool bar and Feedburner. Now user can directly go and shor their URLs at goo.gl itself.
Benefits of goo.gl comparing to other shortening URL services
Fast: Like all other google services goo.gl service is also fast.
Security: While shortening Google also verifies the site content and warns if anything wrong finds.
Stability: Great uptime and reliable google services.
Tracking: You can easily track how many times your URL has been viewed with easy to analyse graphical reports.
‘g.co’ for shortening only Google URLs
This year recently g.co service also been announced by Google. But this service is not for all URLs. You can make shortening only Google Products URLs.
The downside is, you often can’t tell what website you’re going to be redirected to. We’ll use g.co to send you only to webpages that are owned by Google, and only we can create g.co shortcuts. That means you can visit a g.co shortcut confident you will always end up at a page for a Google product or service.
